Valley Yellow Pages Working with Local Schools On Tree Plantings

Kudos to Valley Yellow Pages where a joint effort between Valley YP, the Sanger Chamber of Commerce, and Tree Fresno lead to students and staff at Madison Elementary School in Sanger spending Tuesday morning planting new trees on campus as part of a group effort.

Michelle Meisch with Valley noted that “…they wanted to do something to both give back to the community and reflect their commitment to the environment..”, hence the tree planting effort throughout the Sanger Unified School District.

As Meisch noted in the article reported at KMJN Radio in Central California, all of Valley’s books are made from 100% recylable and non-toxic materials.  Valley Yellow Pages expects to continue planting trees throughout their coverage area which stretches from Bakersfield to the Oregon border.

Kudos to Local Insight Yellow Pages

Local Insight Yellow Pages which publishes the Windstream Yellow Pages directories, has kicked off a new initiative within the Lexington. KY community to encourage residents to recycle their outdated and extra phone directories (source).

Labeled as the first annual “Lexington Recycles – Think Yellow Go Green” campaign, the initiative is expected to run for a month.

The Windstream Yellow Pages team has partnered with local specialty recycler, Montgomery Recycling, in an effort to keep the recyclable books out of the landfills. The effort is timed with the delivery of the 2009 edition of the Greater Lexington Windstream Yellow Pages

Recycling Information in Truckee Meadows? In the Print Yellow Pages

In the Reno, NV area, Truckee Meadows to be exact, recycling is of high interest in the community.  And when you need information on recycling, where should you turn?   As this site suggests, try the print Yellow Pages:

“…if you have questions about recycling in the Truckee Meadows, be sure to check out the Recycling Guide in the new AT&T phone book, located in the yellow pages under “R”! If you still have old phone books, they can be recycled year round by placing them on top of your curbside recycling or by taking them to the Recycle America recycling center at 1100 E. Commercial Row in Reno…”

Kudo’s to Windstream Yellow Pages

Congrats to Windstream Yellow Pages for working with the Lincoln Nebraska Parks and Recreation Department, the local Boy Scouts of America and specialty recycler, Recycling Enterprises of Nebraska, Inc. have lead the community’s “Think Yellow, Go Green” effort by recycling 1,200 outdated directories, the equivalent of 6,000 pounds — three tons of outdated directories (link).

Yellow Pages publishers are part of the communities they live and work in also. These efforts are just one example of their environment concerns and efforts to be just as green as other businesses.

Here is just one of the most recent situations where AT&T and the Talking Phone book are working with local government officials in the Columbia, SC area to encourage recycling of old phone books (link):

Residents of Richland and Lexington counties have until March 15 to recycle their old phone books at one of 24 area drop-off locations.

The recycling program is being sponsored by Sonoco Recycling, AT&T The Real Yellow Pages and The Talking Phone Book.
